As some of you may already know, I worked as a vendor at a Craft Fair this past weekend. It was the second year in a row I attended this specific fair, and while the traffic wasn't as heavy as last year, it turned out to be a nice day! I wanted to share some pictures and a little bit about the experience.
Here is my booth all set up:
A lot of work is involved in participating in a craft fair and I give credit to those who do them frequently. For me personally it took of full month of painting for hours each day, and because my items can't rub against each other, each piece is wrapped individually for the packing and unpacking. It is all very time consuming from start to finish and if I'm being honest, it was exhausting and I think my neck and back are a little unhappy with me at the moment. But, I'm not complaining!
The reward is so much greater than all the laborious effort! The sales are nice, and I had my share, but the best part about the whole experience is knowing that because His word is living and as it goes forth it does not return empty but accomplishes God's purposes (Hebrews 4:12, Isaiah 55:11), even those who do not believe are having seeds planted as they take a look at my items. Only God knows what is going on in the heart of each person that came by, and what they needed to see or hear to draw them to Himself. From very small children to senior citizens, all were exposed to His word. Some read the verses quietly and without saying a word to me, while others commented on how touched and powerful it was, and thankful to see His word on display.
I had a woman approach who ordered something from me at the fair last year to tell me how much her mother loved the sign, and still has it sitting on her mantel. Others shared stories of God's faithfulness, baptisms, and there was even a singer from a local church playing hymns near my booth! Overall, it was a truly blessed day. Even the predicted thunderstorms held off. Bringing the Word to those in need of it to comfort, encourage and bring joy and peace is the reason I started my shop. To see the work God is doing through this ministry, and even the work I can't see, is the best part of it all!
I'm thankful to my family for all the help! A special thanks to my sister for working the booth with me, and I can't forget my side-kick for being such a good dog that day. :)
I'm not sure that I'll do another fair this year, but we'll see what God has in store. Should He lead me to participate in another one, then I'll do it, and maybe I will get to meet some of you there and hear your God stories!
