Praying the Word

If you are struggling with fear or anxiety right now, please know that I completely understand. It is so easy to get caught up in the news and focus on the uncertainty of our world in these times. I am daily giving over my own fears to the Lord, asking Him to replace it with trust and peace. I put together a prayer during my own quiet time with Him, and I invite you to pray it with me. It consists entirely of scripture and God's promises to give us peace. There is nothing like praying the living Word of God, they are the most transformative words we can speak. Let's pray:

"Lord, you are not a God of disorder, but a God of peace, and Your word says not to be anxious about anything, but in every situation by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, to present my requests to You, and in doing so, Your peace that surpasses understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus (1 Corinthians 14:33, Philippians 4:6-7). Today, in this time of worldly disorder and uncertainty, I will cast all my anxiety on You because You care for me (1 Peter 5:7). I will not be afraid or anxiously look about, for You are with me. You strengthen me, You help me, You uphold me with Your righteous right hand (Isaiah 41:10). I will not fear the terror of the night, or the arrow that flies by day, or of the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, but I will seek refuge under your wings (Psalm 91:4-6). You will keep me in perfect peace as my mind stays fixed on You because I trust in You (Isaiah 26:3). You have not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). I will be strong and courageous, I will not be afraid or discouraged, for You are with me wherever I go (Joshua 1:9). I will not worry about tomorrow, for Your word says that just as you provide food for the birds and clothe the lilies of the fields, You will provide for all of my needs (Matthew 6:26-34). My heart will not be troubled or afraid, for You have given me Your peace (John 14:27). You are in my midst, I will not be moved, You will help me when morning dawns (Psalm 46:5), and in peace I will lie down and sleep, for You alone, Lord, will make me dwell in safety (Psalm 4:8). We thank You Lord that You give strength to Your people, and bless your people with peace (Psalm 29:11), and as I seek You, You will deliver me from all my fears (Psalm 34:4). Thank You for all of Your promises and Your faithfulness to fulfill them (2 Timothy 2:13). Amen."

I'm so thankful in this world that is changing by day, that we have a God who never changes. He is still on the throne. Nothing that is going on has taken Him by surprise. He is sovereign, and will see us through this time of uncertainty.

When I look back on all of the valleys and fears He has faithfully walked with me through, I am encouraged and reminded that He will be faithful again. I need this reminder, how about you?

He is the God of hope, the God of comfort and the God of peace (Romans 15:13, 2 Corinthians 1:3, Ephesians 2:14). May we turn to Him today with all our cares and leave them at the foot of the cross.

"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever" (Hebrews 13:8)
